What better way to learn about maths than eating ice cream?
On a hot summers day, staff at our Shard End setting encouraged children to count their pennies by choosing a delicious ice cream off the menu and even arranged a special yummy delivery!
Children’s play was brought to life where they had the experience of bringing in, counting and using their own money to pay for an ice cream of their choice. This activity was hugely enjoyed by the children (no surprise there) and really demonstrated Cultural capital in the setting!
As most of our children haven’t been able to go on holiday this year, Shard end have been focussing their learning and play a lot around holidays and the summer this month. Using their paddling pool, encouraging team games and creating exciting outdoor opportunities in their garden areas, who needs a holiday anyway?
