After being inspired by a recent popular programme showing daily interactions between a nursery and a care home, children at our West Heath setting contacted their local care home- Austin Rose. After liaising with the team at Austin Rose, our Pre School and Toddlers have been enjoying regular visits to the care home with the staff, spending time with the residents and putting smiles on their faces!
Children will spend time chatting, singing and telling stories to the residents over a drink and a biscuit.
Donna, the manager of West Heath says ” I feel that by visiting the care home regularly, it is giving all the children a chance to interact with the elderly and forming positive friendships. It is really having a calming effect on the children, they really enjoy going and are developing mutual respect for the elderly.”
