World Book Day

We know at Little Scallywags that reading to children is really important at all ages. It introduces children to new vocabulary and sounds while also bringing comfort and reassurance by spending quality time together. Reading also promotes imagination and builds children listening, attention and memory skills. We celebrated World Book Day in style this year and asked the children to dress up as their favourite story character - even some of the staff joined in! We also asked the children to bring their favourite book to nursery to share with their friends throughout the day. Some of the children went to the local library on the bus for the morning to find even more stories - the smaller children especially enjoyed the sensory area of the library. On the way home, we left a note in the local park and decided to hide some books for other children to find and share. We gave the instruction that once they have read the story, they can hide it somewhere else for other children to find. Happy reading!!
