Indoor Areas
At Little Scallywags, our indoor nursery environment is divided into individual, age appropriate playrooms. All of which are provided with exciting resources and facilities designed to promote a love for learning.
Children are encouraged to access resources independently and staff will plan exciting activities based on children’s interests and developmental needs.

Outdoor Areas
Our nursery gardens are a very popular part of nursery and are designed to provide a range of experiences for all children to have fun and learn new skills. Mud kitchens, water walls and real-life construction areas enable little imaginations to flourish.
Parents are encouraged to provide children with the appropriate clothing so the garden can be used in all weathers.

Extra Curricular
At Little Scallywags, children have the opportunity to learn new skills from various extra curricular activities on offer. From singing and dancing with Jo Jingles to learning new skills on the football pitch with ‘Little Kickers.’
Our older children are also encouraged to bake with our nursery cook and take home delicious treats!

Trips
Children also have the chance to further extend their learning through educational visits to our local community, from growing delicious vegetables at the local allotments to singing for residents of the local elderly care home.
The annual summer trip with parents provides an exciting opportunity to enjoy a day out together. Trips have included visits to the Zoo and Safari Park.

Meals
Our on-site catering staff prepare a wide range of fresh healthy meals for all of our children taking into consideration all dietary needs and requirements.
Our babies enjoy the same varied diet; however food can be blended if this is your preference.
Our menu is reviewed twice a year specifically designed for winter and summer months.

Parents as Partners
‘Parents are children’s first and most enduring educators. When parents and practitioners work together in early years settings, the results have a positive impact on children’s development and learning.’ (Early Years Foundation Stage).
At Little Scallywags we advocate a strong parent-nursery link and thus there are various ways you can get involved in your child’s learning and development.
Throughout your child’s time at nursery their learning and development is monitored, tracked and recorded. You know your child best and consequently we encourage you to get involved in this process too.
We run Stay and Play sessions and parent workshops throughout the year where you are welcomed into nursery to get involved in various activities.
Fees are due in advance, either weekly or monthly, by way of cheque, standing order or card payment. We also accept childcare vouchers.
Fees are payable for bank holidays, illnesses, holidays and other absences; 2 weeks of your child’s holiday per year have a 50% fee reduction. A 15% discount is also offered for families with more than one child at nursery.
The nursery has an intercom system and no one is admitted until they are identified by staff.
If somebody other than the named person is collecting your child prior arrangements must always be made.
Little Scallywags is able to provide free places for eligible 2 year olds. Additionally all 3 and 4 year olds are entitled to receive 15 funded hours at nursery. 30 hour funded places are available to eligible children.
Little Scallywags offers various ways your child can access their funded hours; either as full days or sessions.
We pride ourselves in being unique with a high standard of individual childcare.
