Sensory spaces

Sensory rooms our settings benefit our children by promoting emotional regulation, cognitive and motor skill development and social skills in a safe environment. They provide a calming space for children who are overwhelmed and need support as well as help with sensory stimulation. Some of our settings have created their own 'Sensory Room' which children can access at any time of day. There maybe times when children need this space to explore the environment around them without feeling overstimulated. At Little Scallywags, staff regularly receive training around working with children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. Staff use these quieter spaces to engage children and support their individual targets which contribute to their development.
