Healthy mind, healthy body!

As part of mental health week, we have spent more time outdoors exploring nature!Spending time outdoors is proven to support positive mental health and allows children to develop self confidence, independence and self esteem. Children also become aware of limits, boundaries and challenge in their play. There are countless benefits of outdoor play, all of which have a positive impact of childrens development. These include - the chance to connect with the natural world, first hand experiences of life and growth, endless opportunities for creativity and imagination and improving physical development.Children at West Heath have been enjoying nature walks this week, aswell as doing a spot of shopping for fruits and vegetables. Staff are heavily involved in the 'Startwell programme' promoting healthy eating. Going shopping for their own vegetables to be cooked at lunch was part of this programme and gave children a wonderful experience.
